What is the scholarship and how does a player apply for it?
The WMBA scholarship is a grant that must be applied to school-related expenses of a WMBA graduating Midget player who will be attending their first year at a post-secondary institution in September 2024. To be considered for these grants, the player must submit an 800-1000 word essay to WMBAawards@waterloobaseball.ca explaining why he should be considered for the scholarship and list 3 qualities they have developed while playing baseball with WMBA and how they will help you in your continuing education. All submissions will be reviewed by the Awards Committee and members will then create a short-list of nominees to take a vote which will determine the recipient or recipients of the scholarship. One of the Scholarships will receive the CJ Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund in honour of the late CJ Moore. CJ was a catcher who had played for the WMBA organization from the age of 5 to 13. He moved swiftly up starting at fundamentals at the age of 5. His passion for baseball was in his heart, even after he left to pursue diving.
